Dear Parents,
Construction and Office Relocation Notice
Construction at the front of the building will begin on March 17.
During this time, the main entry will be closed. All visitors will need to enter through the back of the building using the last door closest to the playground.
The office will be temporarily relocated to the back of the building near the playground. Clear signage will be posted to help direct you to the office location. The same doorbell system will be in place for entry.
There will be a few parking spaces next to the office door for quick pick up. This is limited time parking.
Once you enter the building, the office will be the first door on the left. Please enter there for all office needs.
The procedures for checking out students or volunteering in the building will remain the same; however, you will now enter through the back of the building.
All visitors must check in at the office upon arrival.
Arrival Procedures
Students will be dropped off near the playground and will wait behind the fence on the blacktop area. Supervising staff will bring students who are eating breakfast inside at 8:15 a.m. All other students will enter the building when the bell rings at 8:20 a.m.
For safety, please remind your children to use the sidewalks only and not walk through the parking lot. Watch the weather and have students with rain gear or coats.
There will be no sitting idle or blocking traffic in the parking lot. If you wish to wait in your car, you must park in a designated parking space. No red curb areas. You must have a handicapped sign in your car to park in handicapped areas. The drop-off line will continue moving, so please have your children ready to exit the vehicle immediately with all belongings, including coats and lunch boxes, and say goodbyes before reaching the drop-off point.
If you would like to walk your child to the arrival area or need extra time for any reason, please park in a parking space and walk them up.
Dismissal Procedures
To support a safe and efficient dismissal process, students and staff will exit through designated doors and walk to the front of the building using the sidewalks. Due to limited space, dismissal will take place at the front of the building, shifting slightly south of our regular gathering area.
We will use a staggered dismissal schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Walkers will be dismissed at 3:25 p.m. adding them to Kindergarten, buses, daycare vans and Spark.
Wednesdays: Walkers will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m.
Note: If you would like to park in the neighborhood and have your child walk to your vehicle, you may sign your child up as a walker (early dismissal). Parents may choose this option to allow students to walk to a designated location in the neighborhood to meet your car beginning at 3:25 p.m. (2:25 p.m. on Wednesdays). The sign up link will be coming soon to your email.
Regards,
Mrs. Kreager
INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION:
There may be some occasions when attending school due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may not be advisable. Student safety and learning is always the top priority for Millard Public Schools. With that in mind, Millard Public Schools will utilize a few options including 1) eLearning Days 2) Late Starts and 3) cancelling school. Late Start and eLearning days will not need to be made up at the end of the school year.
The District will communicate with staff and families when we may need to utilize one of these options. Announcements related to using any of the above options will be made on the radio and TV stations by 6 a.m. The announcement will also be posted on Millard’s website: www.mpsomaha.org. Parents and staff will also receive automated phone calls, texts and emails from our automated system. Typically, phone calls occur after 6:00 a.m., depending on when the decision is made.
Late start days will begin exactly 2 hours later than the normal school start time. When weather permits for a later start, the streets, sidewalks and parking lots can be better cleared and rush hour traffic can be complete. Doors will open on late start days at 10:15 a.m. School will begin at 10:30 a.m. We will have grab and go breakfast available for students that did not eat breakfast. Our lunch schedule will remain the same.
During an eLearning Day (students do not attend school) it allows for the scope and sequence of the coursework to stay on track and minimize disruptions to the learning process by leveraging technology, digital tools and other educational resources. Teachers will share information for assignments/tasks on an eLearning Day.
You can expect these things to occur for an eLearning day from Cather Elementary.
Teachers will talk with students and parents prior to the eLearning day at conferences to clearly explain what eLearning day procedures are for students.
You can expect eLearning day assignments to take 30-60 minutes to complete.
Teachers will be checking their emails periodically from 8:30 a.m until 3:30 p.m. to answer any questions that students and/or parents have.
Students will have 2 days to complete the eLearning assignment and hand it in.
A Canceled Day / Traditional Snow Day
On a day when school is canceled, schools are closed and no work is assigned.

Dear Parents and Staff,
Thank you very much for all of your hard work, donations, planning, and preparation to make our Winter Olympics such a successful event!
A special thank you to our 4th grade parents, volunteers, and everyone who contributed donations to support this fundraiser. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. The money raised will go toward the 5th Grade graduation trip to the Amazing Pizza Machine — such a fun and memorable celebration for our students!
Thank you to Mrs. Roth and her team for organizing, setting up, and preparing such an exciting event for our school community. We are also incredibly grateful to the parents who volunteered their time to help plan, organize, and prepare all of the stuffies and prizes.
I appreciate all of you so much. Your support and dedication make Cather such a special place for our students.
Have a wonderful weekend!

We hope you are enjoying our One School One Book this year! Frindle was written several years ago, but recently the sequel, Frindle Files, was published. Although Andrew Clements passed away, his daughter was able to edit and get this transcript published. When you're finished with Frindle, you should give Frindle Files a read! It's got a fun connection!!
