Francis Galton
He was the 1 st to quantifiably measure mental ability. He was interested in how intelligence was influenced by genetics. Because of his interest in traits and genetics, he founded the eugenics movement.
Charles Spearman
Spearman created the idea of the "g." He said that if a person is intelligence in one area, they are likely to be intelligence in multiple areas. This is the basis for the idea of "general intelligence."
Howard Gardner
He is the founder of the Multiple Intelligence theory. He believes that are different types of intelligence including: logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, linguistic, musical, and naturalistic.
Daniel Goleman
Goleman created the idea of an EQ instead of an IQ. He believes that there is something called Emotional Intelligence which may be a better predictor of success.
Robert Sternberg
He devised the Triarchic Theory of intelligence.
Alfred Binet
He created the first IQ test and used something called mental age to help determine an individuals IQ.
Lewis Terman
He revised Binet's IQ test and established norms for American children. His test was called the Stanford-Binet test.
David Wechsler
Wechsler published the first IQ tests for adults. His test scores are based off of normal distribution scores and the bell curve.
