Michael Gazzaniga
Michael studies of the neural basis of mind with primary responsibility for initiating human split-brain research. In his subsequent work he has made important advances in our understanding of functional lateralization in the brain and how the cerebral hemispheres communicate with one another.
Paul Broca
Discovered the Broca's area due to having a patient who was incapable of speech after a certain area of his left hemisphere in the frontal lobe was injured by a stroke.
Carl Wernicke
Discovered the Wernicke's area. He saw the research by Paul Broca and investigated other instances of aphasia. He discovered the Wernicke's area in the left temporal lobe.
Phineas Gage
Phineas suffered a massive brain injury when a tamping iron went through his head. It severed his frontal lobe from the limbic system. He is a great case study in psychology of how the front lobe functions with emotional regulation.
