Our council has always loved going to state! This last year we were able to take a total of twelve council members; six seniors and six underclassmen. As a tradition, Red Mountain student council dressed as hot dogs the day we arrived!
Red Mountain always brings a wild party! This year we were able to attend Westwood's spirit conference. We always spirit conference as its always a good time to spend with other councils and meet new people, and reunite with camp friends. Music playing, people dancing, and listening to motivational speakers. Such a fun time to remember!
It is always recommended to go to summer camp in our student council! Every year there is a tradition to take a council photo we make the commitment to continue this tradition! At camp we grow close bonds with other members from other councils who some may even call their life long friends, who you just met in a five day period. This experience at camp is a great way to look out and open up to the real world and express the REAL you! Some do say that “camp is a reset from reality”. We love camp!
These were some of our state officers and some motivational speakers that spoke at the luncheon! It was such a great day! At the luncheon, our council listened to a speaker and talked about AASC upcoming events! We had such a great time reuniting with some of our camp friends hearing about the upcoming AASC events!
Our council hosted an idea share for all the local East Valley high schools. Each school brought a 20 minute class to share and we had around 10 classes share! After rotating three times, we then ate lunch together.
This summer we attended the AASC Regional 6 Conference held in Hot Springs Arkansas! We learned many new traditions and were able to network with students across the nation.
The lock-in is an amazing opportunity to come together to connect and bond with our Red Mountain student council. Both council classes spend the entire school day together. We have lunch with mountain movers; our special education program, and we ended the day with a few activities and a lecture about teamwork and pulling your own “weight”. After school we had a little break then all came back together then had dinner with our school administration and participated in activities and a few fun games with our student council family and alumni! Then we ended the night on the field reflecting off of our day and what exactly was significant to us about the activities we did.
