Programming for students with developmental disabilities has an emphasis on functional and academic skills to give students the ability to live as independently as possible in their lives as they move through and beyond PreK-12+ education. Alternative curriculum is provided to students that includes instruction in daily and independent living, communication, community participation, recreational and leisure, work and work-related skill development. Services are provided in a variety of settings, including general education and special education classrooms, community environments, and job training sites. Inclusivity is based on student strengths, interests, abilities, and modified outcomes and grading will be determined at each student’s IEP meeting on an annual basis. Middle and high school students who receive special education services will have increased opportunities to participate in transition services in community environments and job training sites to give them skills needed for post secondary life.
