Students in our Resource program spend at least half of their day in general education classes. Our team provides personalized support through each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), focusing on areas such as reading, math, organization, study skills, and behavior. We also include goals that build important life and independence skills to prepare students for life after high school.
Students can benefit from a variety of services, including:
Small-group instruction in English, Math, Study Skills, and other subjects based on individual needs.
Classes and guidance to help students explore careers and develop job readiness skills.
Support for building independent living skills to prepare for adulthood.
General education classes taught by two teachers—one subject expert and one special education teacher—working together to make sure all students can learn and grow at their own pace.
Planning for life after high school, including partnerships with Hennepin County Rehabilitation Services, LDA, and community or technical college programs for ongoing support.
Collaborations between special education and general education teachers to adapt lessons, make modifications, and promote success in the classroom.
Regular check-ins on academic progress, attendance, and behavior to make sure each student stays on track.
Thoughtful behavior support plans and positive interventions to help students succeed.
Consistent communication between teachers, families, and case managers to keep everyone connected and informed.
At South, we believe that every student deserves the tools, encouragement, and community support they need to thrive—both in school and beyond.
