Hello Music Makers!

I am the Music Teacher at Green Central Park. This will be my 30th year teaching in Minneapolis and I have been at Green Central Park since the building opened in 1992. I love this school, students, families and community!

In the Music classes , we will sing, dance and play a variety of instruments. All students will learn how to read, play and create music. We also will learn about music from many countries and cultures.

My favorite activities are playing the piano, singing, gardening, crafts, cooking and spending time with my family on Lake Osakis.

Even when we are apart...

Music brings us together!

Ms. Larson

About Me:

I am so happy to be back at Green Central Park School as the band teacher. This is my third year here, and I have had so much fun being a part of this community.

I have been teaching band for over 25 years. I love creating music with and learning from students.

I have bachelor degrees in Music Education and Elementary Education from Augsburg College. I received my Masters in Music Education from St. Thomas University. I studied natural trumpet in Salzburg, Austria and at Oberlin College. (Natural trumpet is an instrument similar to the modern trumpet, but has no valves.)

I have played the trumpet since I was 12 years old. I currently play in a brass quintet which has been together for over 30 years. I am the principle trumpet in the Minnesota Philharmonic, a community orchestra in Minneapolis.

With distance learning at the beginning of this year, band will look a little different. I know it will be amazing because the students families, teachers and staff here at Green Central are amazing.

I am very excited to be teaching physical education at Green Central this year. Being healthy is very important to me, and teaching about exercise, ,health, and fitness comes naturally.

My favorite sport is Nordic Skiing, but after that I love all sports. You can frequently find me walking, biking, or running around Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Falls is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis.

Besides exercise, I also enjoy music, reading, knitting, sewing, and learning anything.

I have four grown children Jennifer, Lisa, Scott, and Daniel. I have two grandchildren Liliana, (4 years) and Raphael (almost 1 year).

Thank you for your giving me the opportunity to share my knowledge with your children. I feel grateful for your support.

Araceli Pastrana

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Música, Lengua y Cultura!

En donde exploramos el mundo por medio de la música, el baile y la cultura.

Welcome to Music, Language, and Culture Class! Where we explore the world through music, dance, and culture!

I am originally from Mexico City where I graduated and obtain my bachelor’s in elementary school. I migrated to Minnesota 25 years ago. I obtained my Master's in Language and Culture in the Spanish language in Salamanca, Spain.

This is my 22nd year of teaching, but my first year at Green Central as a specialist. I found my true vocation for culture, music, and dance of the heart. I consider myself lucky to be able to explore the relationship between dance, social studies, the Spanish language within the MLC class. My family (daughter Natalia and our cat Diego)We speak Spanish at home and enjoy being part of everything our neighborhood and city have to offer: parks, libraries, concerts, festivals.
