Mi nombre es Mariangela Jakab. Soy de Venezuela y he trabajado para el distrito de escuelas de Minneapolis desde el año 2014.

Durante este tiempo trabajé en la Escuela Windom de Doble Inmersión sirviendo a la comunidad de Windom como maestra de apoyo académico. Tengo 15 años de experiencia trabajando con estudiantes, siete años en mi país natal y 8 años en Minnesota. He trabajado con diferentes edades durante mi trayectoria enseñando.

Creo que en las escuelas de inmersión y en la inmensa capacidad que tienen los estudiantes al aprender dos idiomas de manera simultánea. Los beneficios son múltiples. Actualmente mi hija asiste a la escuela bilingüe en Green central y su experiencia ha sido magnífica.

Mis actividades favoritas son cocinar, las artes plásticas, el contacto con la naturaleza y pasar tiempo con mi familia.

Espero que este sea un gran año escolar para favorecer el aprendizaje de mis estudiantes.

My name is Mariangela Jakab. I am from Venezuela and have worked with Minneapolis Public School since 2014.

During this time I worked at Windom Dual Immersion school serving the community as an academic support assistant teacher. I have 15 years of experience working with students, 7 in my home country and 8 here in Minnesota. I have worked with many different ages during my time teaching.

I believe strongly in immersion programs and in the ability for students to learn two languages simultaneously. There are so many benefits. Presently my daughter attends Green Central and she is enjoying a wonderful experience.

In my personal time I enjoy cooking, arts and crafts, being in touch with nature and spending time with my family.

I hope that this year will be a great school year for the learning of my students.

Hola, soy la Sra. Rosado y maestra de primer grado en el salón 131.

Un poco sobre mí:

Yo nací en Hialeah, Florida y a mis 4 años me mudé a Puerto Rico donde viví la mayor parte de mi vida. En el año 2011, me mudé a Minnesota junto a mis 3 hijos; Yosline, Kevin y Yanelis. En el año 2018, adoptamos a nuestra gata Destiny, ella es una parte muy importante en nuestra familia. He trabajado para las Escuelas Públicas de Minneapolis por 10 años. Comencé como AE, luego enseñé Kindergarden y ahora como maestra de 1er grado.

Educación:

Obtuve mi Bachillerato en Educación Especial y tecnología en la American University of Puerto Rico en el año 2010. También completé mi Maestría en Educación Elemental K-6 en la Universidad de Minnesota en el año 2017.

Algunas de mis cosas favoritas:

Pasar tiempo con mi familia y amigos, la playa, ir de compras, el cine y el resto de mi tiempo libre buscar actividades que le ayuden a mis estudiantes en su desempeño académico.

Espero que este año podamos disfrutarlo al máximo y que sea una experiencia positiva para mis estudiantes.

A little bit about me…

I was born in Hialeah, Florida and at 4 years old I moved to Puerto Rico where I lived most of my life. In 2011, I moved to Minnesota with my 3 children; Yosline, Kevin and Yanelis. In 2018 we adopted our cat Destiny, she is a very important part in our family. I have worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools for 10 years. I started as AE, then I taught Kindergarten and now as a 1st grade teacher.

Education

I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Technology at American University of Puerto Rico in 2010. I also completed my Master's in Elementary Education K-6 at the University of Minnesota in 2017

Some of my favorite things….

Spend time with my family and friends, the beach, go shopping, movies and the rest of my free time look for activities that will help my students in their academic success.

I hope that this year we can enjoy it to the fullest and that it will be a positive experience for my students.

¡Hola y bienvenidos a primer grado en la escuela Green! Me llamo Stephanie Méndez. He sido maestra por más de 20 años y tengo una maestría en Educación Bilingüe y Educación Especial. Crecí en varios estados de la Costa Este de los Estados Unidos; me mudé aquí hace 16 años. Mi esposo Nigel y yo tenemos dos hijos: Theo, en séptimo grado en la escuela Anderson, y Oliver, en cuarto grado en Green.

Mi deseo para este año escolar es que su hijo se sienta exitoso y seguro. Que le encante el aprendizaje y la escuela. Tengo muchas ideas que podemos crear juntos su hijo/a y yo para aprender, jugar, cantar, leer, escribir y reír juntos cada día.

Hello and welcome to first grade at Green Central Spanish Dual Language Magnet! My name is Stephanie Mendez. I have been teaching for more than 20 years, and have a Master’s degree in Bilingual Special Education. I grew up in various states on the East Coast, but have been in Minnesota for 16 years now. My husband Nigel and I have two sons: Theo, a seventh grader at Anderson, and Oliver, a fourth grader here at Green.

My hope for this school year is that your child will feel safe and successful and will love learning and school. I have many ideas for how your child and I will be able to create, play, sing, read, write and laugh our way through each day.
