What is an SLC? SLC stands for Student-Led Conferences. We do Student Led Conferences to create ownership of learning and growth by reflecting on our progress in meeting the character and academic State standards. This is an opportunity for us to communicate with our parents about what we have been learning, what is going well for us at school, and what goals we would like to set for ourselves and the action steps we will take in order to improve in areas where we are being challenged.
This year, our 8th-grade level lens is impact. Our goal for impact this year is to apply the lessons and skills learned during our time at MMS to make a positive impact on our future and the world around us. We have only just started learning and conversing about impact, so I have no real understanding of the topic, but I can tell you this: Impact is not just the people around you; it is also yourself. I haven't grown massively in impact, but my goal is to be able to have a positive, long-lasting impact on others around me and my mentality.
