Issue: Winter is coming and the birds are stressed trying to find enough food and are fighting in the trees
Challenge: Build a bird feeder using recycle materials from around the back yard and home
Considerations: There are two common types of bird feed
Wild bird seed combined with melted animal lard/fat, to create a feeding block (solid), free hanging or placed on a surface
The other is loose dry wild bird seed in some type of hanging container
Using google, look at different types of bird feeders, use this information to help you create a plan to make yours with the materials you have around the home
Safety: safe working practises
You will need to use sharp tools and equipment to make a bird feeder, wear safety glasses when working with the wire
Plan out the making process, take your time and be careful, ask for help from a reliable older person
You may also need help to place the bird feeder in a high place so the birds can feed safely from predators
Below are photos showing the processes I went through to make the 3 different bird feeders
All of these bird feeders can be refilled or moulded
