Impact

Genie’s passion for the ocean continues to live on. She published 3 books and more than 175 articles about her research.

Several fish species have been named in her honor: Callogobius clarki, Sticharium clarkae, Enneapterygius clarkae, Atrobucca geniae, and the shark Squalus clarkae, “Genie’s dogfish.”

Genie has inspired, and continues to inspire, people to be curious about the world around them, to learn more about the ocean, and to protect earth’s wild places.
