Kevin Matson joined the Moses Brown community in the fall of 1984, beginning a multifaceted career characterized by leadership both on the field and in the classroom. Over the years, he has served the school in a variety of vital capacities, including Mathematics teacher, Dean of Students, and Head Varsity Baseball Coach. Known for his competitive drive and his disciplined approach to education, Mr. Matson has been a fixture of the MB athletic and academic landscape for decades. His devotion to the school is deeply personal, rooted in his love for the community and his experience as an MB parent. Whether he is guiding students through complex equations or leading the Quakers to victory on the diamond, Mr. Matson’s career is a testament to the power of long-term commitment and school spirit.

Description
A unique, prehistoric "living fossil" with an upright, pyramidal growth habit that becomes irregular and spreading with age.
Leaves: Alternate, simple, 2–3 inches wide, fan-shaped with a central notch; turn a brilliant, uniform gold in autumn.
Bark: Light gray-brown, deeply furrowed with age into thick, corky ridges.
Twigs: Stout, light brown, featuring distinct "short spurs" where leaves and flowers emerge.
Flowers: April–May; dioecious (separate male and female trees); male catkins are small and yellow; female flowers are inconspicuous.
Fruits: (Technically seeds) Late Autumn; produced only on female trees; tan/orange fleshy coating, about 1 inch long, known for a strong, rancid odor when ripe.
