#AlwaysInnovatingMV
At Moorland View, we believe it's important to constantly be on the ball when it comes down to innovation in technology. As a business in 2022, especially as we emerge from the pandemic, technology is crucial in the day to day running of the care home and can support the care of our residents. We are one of the most technologically advanced care homes in the Blackburn with Darwen area building on things from electronic care documents and planning apps to proxy medication. We're constantly developing and innovating with new systems and applications that can allow colleagues to perform their duties easily whilst not letting down on our excellent service to our residents. #AlwaysInnovatingMV is all about showcasing the amazing developments to make our care home even more forward-thinking and future-ready!
Moorland View Care Home has successfully:
Incorporated a proxy medication ordering system to allow repeat prescriptions to be ordered via the pharmacy from the care home quickly and efficiently cutting down on time and paperwork on phoning the GP surgeries.
Massively switched to cloud-based documents and collaboration via the Google Workspace suite which means all documents can be accessed anywhere on mobile devices and computers without needing any memory USBs so that colleagues and management can keep tabs on ensuring high-quality care even on the go.
Using an electronic application, CareDocs, which allows us to access and edit care plans whilst in the office but also on the go and monitor residents' health and preferences. A tablet has also been issued to allow colleagues to do this whilst with residents, without needing laptops.
Digital menus have now been created for all week rotations to allow residents to visually see what is on offer for lunch and dinner and to make it easier for them to pick choices and be aware of allergens.
Purchasing Chromebooks and using an NHS-issued tablet to allow tasks such as proxy medication and digital menus to be undertaken whilst mobile.
Using NHSmail when collaborating with GPs and other NHS staff and using a shared mailbox.
Digital logbooks for all visitors which securely keeps health and safety laws in place whilst maintaining security because of constant updating spreadsheets showing managers who is in on-site.
These tools and innovations make a massive difference to resident care and allow our care home to thrive and massively differentiate us beyond other homes in the area as we step ahead in our ever-digital world.
