Our photography creates the world Moonpig exists in and is what we use to invite people in. We pride ourselves on shooting our cards and products in the world of Moonpig. This is what makes us who we are and unlike anyone else..
There is heart in the way we shoot. To us, it’s all about the little details, whether it’s an envelope under a card, a stamp in the shot, a Polaroid next to a photo upload, or flower petals scattered around the scene. Every detail makes up the soul of our branding and should never be lost.
1. Mood
Mood should always be fun and upbeat. Bold, bright and colourful - radiating happiness and joy inline with our brand guidelines. Always approachable with a welcoming tone that encourages exploration and discovery.
2. Subject Matter
To be as friendly and approachable. Use positive emotions to convey a sense of joy and doing/being with friends. Our customers are real people in real life hence this is what our mood should portray in a fun setting.
3. Remember
A Moonpig moment is a moment which does more… It raises a bigger smiles, it makes a bigger impression, it says something more - something we need make sure is captured in every shot.
Most imagery will be used across multiple touch points across digital and print so with this we need to consider crops. This will leave room for copy or additional imagery. Always provide design with the plate shot
Each image should hold the following cards;
3 standard cards
1 of all 3 sizes (standard, large or giant).
A plate image with a plain white card front (so design can add a visual).
Or space in a product placement for a pig brand asset to be added on top.
Poses should always portray a happy feeling, nothing moody and always a friendly vibe.
Clothing should always stick to the chosen colour palette and reflect a positive feeling without being too overpowering in the set-up.
Model poses should be relaxed and welcoming. Never looking into the camera.
Use natural unfiltered light where possible to create authentic and honest set-up. Introduce shadows into the lighting for a more natural and high end feel to the photography. Lighting should feel organic and natural, like it's happening in real-life rather than in a studio setting.
Background colours and props should always be considered with the same colour palette. Always bright and colourful to showcase a joyful feel to the images.

When we shoot still life shots we need to consider the placement of the pig.
This means leaving clear space that's easy add the pig asset in place.
Here is a example of a before and after shot of asset inserted.
Do leave cards blank for design.
Do consider the colour palette in every detail of the shot.
Do leave space for copy and the pig.
Don't obstruct main products.
Don't have any products facing the wrong way.
Don't use harsh lighting.
