Welcome Back!

2023-2024

Dear Memorial Families,

I hope these words find you well and looking forward to the start of another great school year.  Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 5, and it will be a single-session day

Memorial has been very busy this summer with referendum construction projects.  These projects will enhance and expand our learning environment and allow us to better meet the needs of all students.  As of the time of this communication, all of our aging boilers and classroom HVAC units have been replaced and updated with new hardware and technology.  The gym and MPR now have air conditioning!  Additionally, our fire safety system has been completely replaced and upgraded in all areas of the building.  I had no idea how extensive and encompassing these projects would be, but our contractor and workers have been wonderful to work with and have done an excellent job.  During the school year, additional referendum projects will begin, such as the installation of enhanced classroom door locking mechanisms and breaking ground of the new wing along the northwestern side of Memorial.  We will continue to work closely with our contractors to ensure our school learning environment will always remain safe, productive, and enjoyable for our entire learning community.

As you drive by MES over the next few weeks, you might notice safety fences along the exterior of the kindergarten and 1st/2nd grade hallways.  These fences will likely remain for the entirety of the school year and some of our arrival and dismissal procedures will be impacted in those areas.  I will send a separate communication prior to the start of school with any changes to arrival and dismissal procedures for the school year.

Please take several moments to review the information on the pages above, as they outline important procedural and safety details to help us start the school year.  On the pages above, you will find information on the following:

What’s New? - building and staffing updates

Arrival/Dismissal - Procedures for arrival and dismissal, as well as PikMyKid information

Lunch - information about lunch procedures for this school year, as well as how to order food and milk

Daily Schedules - a link to the schedules used throughout the year at Memorial

Health and Safety - information about our health and safety practices for this school year

Realtime - information about accessing the parent portal to see homeroom assignments, etc.

Resources - class supply lists, school calendar, MCC information, etc.

Finally, I would like to thank our office and custodial staff for the incredible amount of hard work they have invested this summer to prepare school for our students.  I’m sure our students will smile when they see the outstanding environment when they return.

Thank you, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, September 5!

Thank you,

Erik Parks, Ed. D.
