Nathan Herfindahl has made a name for himself in his kind yet knowledgeable approach to the study of vocal pedagogy. As a self proclaimed purist of the voice, Dr. Herfindahl believes that singing is a full bodied activity. His technique is based on maximizing the potential of the voice by learning the fundamental aspects of breath support and function.
In his travels as a professional Opera Singer, Dr. Herfindahl was fortunate to study with several of the worlds leading teachers of voice, including: Dolora Zajick, Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Mark Oswald, and Frederica von Stade. In addition, he was able to work extensively with coaches Ken Weiss, Anthony Manoli, Tom Rimes, and Maria Kurdina. Through study with these experts, Dr. Herfindahl has honed an impressive singing technique that he can use to help demonstrate proper use of the voice. Dr. Herfindahl's teaching style is quite eclectic and he strives to meet his students where they are. His students have achieved many successes while under his tutelage. Dr. Herfindahl's former students are currently enrolled in vocal studies at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, the University of Minnesota Duluth, Concordia College, Lawrence Conservatory of Music, Saint Cloud State University, and St. Olaf College.
