Preschool Services
(IDEA Part B/619 & Kentucky’s State-Funded Preschool)
Monroe County Schools offers high-quality preschool services for children ages 3–5 through two programs:
➤ IDEA Part B/619
Children with developmental delays or disabilities may qualify for special education services beginning on their third birthday, regardless of family income. Services are individualized through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and delivered in the least restrictive environment.
➤ Monroe County Preschool is a Kentucky State-Funded Preschool Program
Children may also qualify for state-funded preschool if they meet one of the following criteria:
Are 4 years old (by August 1) and live in a household with income at or below 160% of the federal poverty level,
Are 3 or 4 years old and have an identified disability, regardless of income. Income Form

Gamaliel Elementary School
Each site provides developmentally appropriate, inclusive environments that support growth in:
Cognitive and early academic skills
Language and communication
Social-emotional development
Physical and motor skills
Self-help and independence
🗓️ Preschool screenings and registration take place year-round.
If you suspect your child has a delay, or if you’d like to learn whether your child qualifies based on income, please follow the registration timeline below:
April 1–August 1: Complete the Monroe County School Registration Form, available through the district’s Facebook Page.
August 2–March 31: Email both rendy.belcher@monroe.kyschools.us and melinda.mcnew@monroe.kyschools.us, or visit us in person.

Date of Birth and Gender
Age
Anticipated Eligibility (e.g., speech delay, developmental delay, income-based)
Required Documents for Enrollment:
Certified Birth Certificate
Kentucky Immunization Certificate
Preventive Health Physical (within 6 months)
Vision Exam (ages 3–6, due by January 1 of year enrolled)
Dental Screening (due by January 1)
Income Verification (for income-eligible children)
