Monroe County Schools identifies and evaluates children with disabilities in accordance with IDEA and 707 KAR 1:300. We conduct Child Find activities throughout the year, including preschool screenings, school-based referrals, and public awareness.
Child Find applies to children who:
Reside within Monroe County, regardless of school enrollment
Attend public, private, or home schools
Are experiencing homelessness or are in foster care
Are suspected of having a disability, even if they are advancing from grade to grade
