Special Education Mission Statement
In alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), our mission is to ensure that all children with disabilities—beginning at age three—receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). We are committed to early identification, high-quality instruction, and individualized supports that promote meaningful access to the general education curriculum and positive outcomes for all students. Through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans, we provide personalized accommodations, modifications, and services that address each student’s unique needs, ensuring equitable opportunities for learning, growth, and success.
Preschool Mission Statement
The mission of the Monroe County Preschool Program is to provide equitable access to high-quality early learning experiences for all eligible three- and four-year-old children in our rural community. Guided by the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards, we partner with families to nurture growth across all developmental domains.
We strive to:
Provide specially designed instruction and related services that meet each child's unique needs
Identify and serve eligible children starting at age three through Child Find and coordinated transition from First Steps
Support families as equal partners in the ARC (Admissions and Release Committee) and IEP process
Uphold procedural safeguards and ensure that all decisions are made through a collaborative, data-informed process
Prepare each child for further education, employment, and independent living to the maximum extent possible
Our preschool program supports school readiness by offering inclusive, developmentally appropriate services that promote cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development as outlined in Kentucky’s Early Childhood Standards.
