Community College
Davis partners with Modesto Junior College to make sure students have the support they need if they plan to attend while in high school, and after high school. MJC is a great option that many seniors select as a starting point for their college career after graduation.
What is your goal at MJC?
Transfer to a university—complete the required 60 transferable units, and apply to a university in the semester before you finish at MJC. Students need 15 units every semester of transferrable classes in order to transfer in 2 years.
Obtain AA or AS Degree—a 2 year degree can help you obtain a more desirable job and start a career. You can obtain the degree and transfer if you wish, it may take a few more classes.
Earn a Career Technical Education Certification—only take classes that pertain to your career area, and earn a certificate to help you get a job in the industry.
No entrance requirements.
Application typically open October 1st senior year.
May earn Associates degree (2 years) or Vocational Ed. Certificate.
Designed as the first half of a 4-year education path (2 years at a JC, then transfer to finish 2 years at CSU/UC, or private colleges to earn a bachelor's degree).
Students must be self-motivated and have a plan to get through in 2 years. If a student needs remedial classes, is part time, or has to retake courses, it may take more than two years to transfer.
We encourage students to take math all four years of high school and to do well in English class to avoid having o take remedial classes.
For the first 2 years, tuition will be FREE for ALL full-time incoming freshman regardless of parent income (Must complete FAFSA to qualify, be full-time, and pass all classes with a 2.0 GPA).
