Time to Shop

Grocery Shopping

  • Buy in bulk, save money, save time!

  • Buy local and seasonal fresh produce.

  • Buy items that will last and buy fresh as you need them.

  • Variety. It’s important to eat from the different food groups and it makes eating fun too!

  • Avoid unnecessary plastic, use reusable produce bags to shop for fruits and vegetables.

  • Don’t be afraid to shop homebrand goods, often they are made in the same factory with the same ingredients and are just as nutritious.

Fight Food Waste

  • Fruits emit higher amounts of ripening agent (ethylene), so to avoid overripening or spoilage, store fruits and vegetables separately if possible.

  • Freeze overripe fruits for smoothies or for making your own jam and compote.

  • Pickle “imperfect” veggies, or make a soup or stew.

  • Save veggie scraps to make vegetable broth.

Benefits of a Well-Stocked Pantry and Freezer

  • No need to visit the supermarket repetitively, saves time.

  • Have the ingredients on hand to create nutritious and easy recipes to go.

  • Compliments fresh ingredients easily and help build healthy balanced meals (for example, adding canned tuna or chickpeas onto fresh salads).
