Art

Kaydem is a student in my ceramics class this year who challenges herself each and every day with complicated solutions to projects. Her attention to detail is top notch and when faced with setbacks she always figures out how to move forward. Kaydem shows exceptional skills and ability while working with clay and is eager to learn more.

FACS

I have enjoyed working with Lauren Lehman for the past 2 years through various FACS courses and now I anticipate as a future intern in CEIP. I am impressed with her drive, perseverance, professionalism, and initiative in the classroom.

Lauren is an excellent student. Her quiet, unassuming nature belies her passion and enthusiasm for children. She has an excellent work ethic and tackles all assignments with enthusiasm and diligence. She is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits as seen in the frequent cooperative learning projects and real-life assessments completed in class. She is committed to giving her best by always encouraging and caring for others. These are the qualities that will allow Lauren to become a successful member of our ever-changing world.

She has demonstrated that she has the tools to become successful in the field of human services. Her interests lie in child psychology and her interest in working with children testifies to her ability to understand their development and be sensitive to the needs of others; her future students. I commend her for her excellence and proudly select her as Student of the Month for April 2023. Congratulations Lauren!

Media Arts

Kira has been a blessing to the Mohonasen Media Arts program. As an eleventh grader she has stepped in and taken over a role usually reserved for a senior and she has been absolutely fantastic. Kira has been able to manage and supervise 52 Media Arts students and 15 Media Arts club students and assist with the classes direction. Kira has done an excellent job managing the Mohonasen Daily News and bringing an entertaining broadcast to our school community every morning. She has also been planning our 2023 MAMA's festival with fellow junior Megan Janis. Both students have dedicated endless hours to planning and meetings. Her coordination with administrators and private businesses has ensured that this year's ceremony will be a smashing success.

- Mr. Veeder

Music

Noah is a hard worker who finds himself playing his trumpet every single day. It's not wonder he's found great success this year. He was a principal trumpet of Schenectady's recent All-County, and was the only student member of Mohonasen's musical pit orchestra this year. While Noah has some natural talent, what is most impressive is his dedication to improvement. Next year Noah will be attending SUNY Schenectady to pursue a degree in Music Education. We are so proud of Noah, and can't wait to cheer him on in his bright future!

- Mr. Salamone

Science

Gino is an incredibly focused student with an excellent work ethic. He completes his tasks ahead of time and puts in extra effort on each assignment. As a student, Gino takes care to answer questions thoroughly and make connections between what we are studying in class and the outside world. He takes responsibility for his learning and seeks to extend his understanding of scientific concepts so he can apply them in real life. Gino can always be counted on to make positive contributions to our learning environment here at Mohonasen.

Social Studies

I have only had James for a semester but in that time he does something all teachers crave, he lights up a classroom. He enters class everyday with not only a positive attitude but also a contagious sense of curiosity. He enjoys trying to figure out the "why" of something, not just the facts on how it came to be. My only regret with James is that I did not have an opportunity to have taught him in previous classes. Because of his leadership, curiosity, and ability to work with different groups of people I nominate James Eggleston as Social Studies student of the month.

- Mr. Shaffer

Technology

Noah is an excellent student and is currently enrolled in classes that explore our trades program. He demonstrates exceptional skills in the subject areas, maintains excellent motivation and consistently does superior work. Noah is typically one of the first few students in class to complete design-based projects and regularly works with other students to assist them in class. He truly shows genuine interest in the various areas of Technology Education. His leadership role is evident and his willingness to help others is always there. In addition, Noah is courteous, responsible and well mannered. Continue the excellent work.

Special Recognition

Ana has demonstrated tremendous effort and growth throughtout the past three years and has brought a great energy to my Spanish class. She has that combination of a positive attitude and the belief that she can always improve that's rare in a high school student, but so essential to the learning process. I am confident that she will continue to display the same commitment and diligence in everything she does in the future. Ana is trustworthy, reliable, good-humored student who supports others i nand out of the classroom. Since Ana is from El Salvador and is fluent in Spanish, she is a great asset to the class as well as her peers. She has helped contribute to our classroom environment as one where all students can feel supported and able to ask questions. She is a pleasure to have in class, and her positive attitude and belief in herself, even in the face of difficulty, is an immensely admirable asset.
