Allocation Process for SUBJECT COMBINATION

Allocation Process for Subject Combination

Subject combinations will be allocated based on merit and available vacancies:

  1. Merit:

Students will first be ranked based on their overall academic results. Students will then be allocated the subject combination in the order of their choice, provided they meet all the pre-requisite criteria for Express or Normal Academic.

  1. Available vacancies:

In instances where the subject combination has reached its maximum enrolment size*, students will be allocated to their next choice#.

In the event where all four choices are unsuccessful, the school will allocate an available subject combination according to the student's academic strengths.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Each year, the maximum enrolment size for subject combinations will increase or reduce according to the demand from students who meet the pre-requisite criteria.

#Elective subjects such as Electronics, NFS, D&T and Art have limited vacancies due to the special facilities used. In order not to waste their choices, students are advised NOT to have the same elective subject for all four choices. This is because, if the first choice was unsuccessful due to "no vacancy", the remaining three choices would be unsuccessful too. This is especially so for subject combinations with Electronics and D&T.
