Compulsory Subjects
Subject 1- English Language
Subject 2 - Mother Tongue Language or Higher Mother Tongue
Subject 3 - Mathematics
Subject 4 - [Social Studies + History] (SSH) OR [Social Studies + Geography] (SSG)
Elective Subjects
Option A - 7 Subjects ( Pure Science + A Maths )
Subject 5 - Chemistry
Subject 6 - Biology or Physics
Subject 7 - Additional Mathematics
Characteristic of option:
In depth study of science subjects, therefore it is a pre-requisite criteria for students to excel in both Mathematics and Science.
Prepares students to pursue Science-based courses at a JC or Engineering or STEM-based diploma at a Polytechnic
Pre-requisite Criteria:
(Criteria is subject to school’s final decision based on year-on-year variation such as cohort performance)
Pure Sciences: min 75% for Science (overall)
Additional Maths: min 70% for Mathematics (overall)
Option B - 6 subjects (Combined Science + A Maths/POA)
Subject 5 - Science (Chemistry, Biology) or Science (Physics, Chemistry)
Subject 6 - Additional Mathematics or POA
Characteristic of option
Prepares students who are inclined towards:
Prepares students to pursue Accounting and Finance courses at a Polytechnic
Pre-requisite Criteria:
(Criteria is subject to school’s final decision based on year-on-year variation such as cohort performance)
Additional Mathematics: min 70% for Mathematics (overall)
POA: min 50% for Mathematics (overall)
Option C - 6 subjects (Combined Science + Applied Subjects/Humanities)
Subject 5- Science (Chemistry, Biology) or Science (Physics, Chemistry)
Subject 6 - Electronics or Art or D&T or Geography or Literature or History
Prepares students who are inclined towards:
Prepares students to pursue Design/Creative Sciences courses at a Polytechnic
Provides flexibility and builds a strong foundation to pursue either Humanities or Science-based courses at a JC or Polytechnic
Pre-requisite Criteria:
Criteria is subject to school’s final decision based on year-on-year variation such as cohort performance
Geography: min 70% for Geography (overall)
Literature: min 60% English Language & min 65% Literature (overall)
History: min 70% for History (overall)
Electronics: min 60% for Mathematics (overall)
*SSG and Geography cannot be offered together
**SSH and History cannot be offered together.
Option D - 5 subjects (Combined Science)
Subject 5- Science (Chemistry, Biology) or Science (Physics, Chemistry)
Characteristic of option
Prepares students who are inclined towards:
Supports students by providing flexibility to choose from a Science-based or a diploma in the STEM in the Polytechnic
