Padlet

Account required but it's free with basic features. Can be used with BYOD, iPad and laptop.

WHAT IS IT?

Padlet is basically digital Post-its, but unlike the physical Post-its, Padlet can include a note, a picture, a video, a website, etc. Think of it as a large bulletin board. Anyone with the link can place a post-it on the bulletin board.

Click here to see how you can create an account and start your very first Padlet!

This is a video I did some time back to introduce Padlet. The interface has changed a bit since then but the features are still the same. Help it’s useful for you.

HOW CAN YOU USE IT IN THE CLASSROOM?

  • As exit tickets - Teacher can collect the data from students and then as the owner of the wall, the teacher can go back to it later and rearrange the notes in a meaningful way for the teacher so that he/she can analyse the data.

  • As parking lot - Eg. "What is one thing you find interesting about acute angles?"

  • As a brainstorming tool to collect ideas and reach a decision - Watch this video to find out how you can 'vote'.

  • As KWL chart and many more!

Important:

  • Please tell students where the mic on the iPad is before they record. The mic is near the camera lens (top back). Students tend to talk to the speaker (bottom).

  • If you want to use the video and voice functions, you will need to use the Padlet app. If you just get the students to scan the QR code with the normal QR Reader, you won't get the video and voice functions. Follow the steps below to get there.

Click on 'Continue as guest' (bottom. pink words.)

Click on 'Scan QR Code'. Pupils can then scan the Padlet's QR code.

Some tips!

  • It is not necessary for all students to have a digital device to do this. You can leave the Padlet open on a laptop or any digital device and allow students to type their answer during independent work time, snack break or during transitions.
