Brief description of CCA
SJB aims to develop its cadets into well-rounded individuals who exhibit traits such as responsibility, empathy, communication skills, and the ability to inspire and guide others. The cadets apply the five key leadership practices from the Leadership Challenge model (developed by James Kouzes and Barry Posner) as they participate in CCA activities to develop and strengthen their leadership competencies.
CCA Training and Highlights
The cadets will learn life-saving skills such as first aid knowledge and the practical use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to render assistance and help save lives as they will be the first in line to do so at home, in school and the community. The cadets have opportunities to attend first aid certification courses which are recognised world-wide.
Our CCA programme also include other learning opportunities, such as Values in Action (VIA) projects, learning journeys and Education and Career Guidance (ECG) talks.
VIA at Orange Valley Nursing Home
Dialogue and ECG Talk with SJB Chief Commissioner, Dr. Alvin Ng
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and AED Certification Course at SJB HQ
Team Bonding: Baking Session at SSA Culinary Institute
SJB cadets learn first aid and share their knowledge with others.
SJB cadets also learn home nursing and foot drill.
SJB cadets who demonstrate high caliber for scholarships may explore the following post-secondary opportunities:
Integrated Nursing Scholarship (INS)
Community Nursing Scholarship (CNS)
Singhealth Nursing Sponsorship (Nitec in Nursing)
Higher Nitec in Paramedic and Emergency Care with progression in polytechnics such as Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)
A Secondary 3 cadet participated in the 5-day Hospital Attachment Programme in November 2023 at Singapore General Hospital.
