One-year programme that offers a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers, to better prepare polytechnic-bound N(A) students for entry into the relevant Polytechnic Diploma courses. This is an alternative to the Sec 5 year.
Progress to Sec 5 first after you receive your GCE 'N' Level results.
When the GCE 'O' Results are released, and you are eligible for PFP, you will receive a letter inviting you to apply.
Go to this website and follow the step by step instructions to apply
Results of your application will be released around the end of January.
If you are successful in your application, apply to withdraw from Sec 5
Your course will begin some time in April.
To be eligible to apply for the PFP, N(A) students must obtain:
ELMAB3 (English, Mathematics, Best 3 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 12 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE '‘N'’ Level examination; and
the following subject-specific requirements:
* Refer to https://pfp.polytechnic.edu.sg/PFP/pfp_courses.html for an updated list of courses under Group 1 or 2.
These requirements are in place to ensure that students have the necessary foundations to attend the PFP.
Bonus points will be awarded for good CCA grades. These bonus points will be used in computing the ELMAB3 net aggregate score for course posting within the PFP.
The PFP is also available to Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who have sat for GCE ‘O’-Level subjects. These students are allowed to combine their ‘N’- and ‘O’-Level examination results to compute their eligibility. If a student takes the same subject at both ‘N’ and ‘O’ Levels, only the better grade will be computed into his or her aggregate.
The following GCE ‘O’-Level Grade conversion matrix will be adopted during the computation of aggregates:
'O'-Level grades not listed above cannot be used to determine PFP eligibility (i.e. 'O'-Level grades E8 and F9 do not count towards either the ELMAB3 aggregate score computation or in determining if minimum entry requirements for the PFP course have been met).
