The Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise (Poly EAE) is an aptitude-based admissions exercise that allows students to apply for and receive conditional offers for admission to polytechnics prior to receiving their final grades. It allows the polytechnics greater flexibility to select and admit students based on their aptitudes and interests, apart from academic grades, thus allowing a wider range of talents to be recognised.

a. Singapore Citizens (SC) and Permanent Residents (PR) who have registered to sit for the GCE O-Level examinations in the year of Poly EAE;
b. International Students enrolled in government, government-aided and Independent Schools during the year of Poly EAE application, and who have registered to sit for the GCE O-Level examinations in the year of Poly EAE.
a. The Poly EAE is primarily targeted at students who have strong aptitude and interest in a field related to the diploma course they are applying for. Where relevant, the Polytechnics may also take into account students' talent and achievements in sports, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service during the Poly EAE selection process.
b. The polytechnics will have the discretion to determine how they assess applicants' interests, strengths and aptitudes. Polytechnics may also consider participation in relevant co-curricular activities (CCAs), Advanced Elective Modules (AEMs), Applied Learning Programmes (ALP) and Applied Subjects, as well as participation in activities such as work attachments and sustained involvement in projects that are related to the course students are applying for.
c. Poly EAE applicants will be given conditional offers* should they be selected by the polytechnics. While interest in a field of study is important, to better assure that students admitted through Poly EAE are able to cope with the rigours of a polytechnic education, applicants will have to meet the prevailing polytechnic admission criteria to confirm their conditional offers, which are as follows:
For O-Level holders:
i. A net ELR2B2 score of 26 points or better for the GCE O-Level examinations*; and
ii. Minimum Entry Requirements (MERs) for the polytechnic course you have been offered under Poly EAE*. The MERs for each polytechnic course can be found on the polytechnics' websites.
Note: ELR2B2 is used for admission into the polytechnics. It refers to:
EL: English Language
R2: 2 relevant subjects for the polytechnic course applied for
B2: 2 other best subjects which could be elective subjects
* Results may be combined from no more than 2 sittings of the GCE O-Level examination.
