10th Nairong International Students' Conference

Day 4 was a really meaningful and enjoyable day. From taking part in the conference sessions and competitions to visiting a supermarket and attending the farewell dinner, the day was filled with challenges, laughter and memorable moments.

We began with a brainstorming activity that required us to work closely with other delegates. We explored the conference venue in search of food-related keywords and then worked together to form the words using ropes. During the Mirror Session, we also wrote encouraging notes to our friends. This was a simple but meaningful way to show our appreciation for the people we had met during NISC.

During the plenary session, we learnt more about how biotechnology and food innovation could help address food waste and contribute towards a low-carbon future. This was followed by Workshop 3, where we used a SWOT analysis to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of emerging food technologies. Together with our group members, we brainstormed ideas and developed them into possible solutions

The competitions were one of the biggest highlights of the day. Our school was represented in the Project Pitch, Quiz, Essay Writing and Impromptu Speech competitions. We had also submitted a video earlier for another competition. Each of us was matched to a competition that allowed us to draw upon our individual strengths and talents,

The experience taught us to remain calm under pressure, trust our preparation and persevere even when we felt nervous. It also gave us the confidence to express our ideas and apply what we had learnt throughout the conference. After the competition, our teachers facilitated a debrief session with everyone to tease out the learning points from the competition we just had. We competitions were not only about winning. For many of us, they challenged us to step outside our comfort zones, manage our nervousness and believe in what we could contribute. Although we participated in different events according to our individual strengths and talents, we supported one another as one team. We learnt that preparation, perseverance and encouragement from our friends could help us overcome pressure and perform with greater confidence. It was a good chance for us to decompress and share our feelings and thoughts as well after the competition. Here are some points our friends shared:

As a side activity, we visited Big C Supercenter in Nakhon Pathom. It was refreshing to step outside the conference venue, explore a local supermarket and enjoy some relaxed time with our friends. We all had Dairy Queen Blizzards—a special treat that made the outing even more memorable!

The day ended with the NISC Farewell Dinner. It was a wonderful evening filled with cultural performances, photographs, laughter and friendship. We enjoyed meeting our international friends again, although it felt bittersweet knowing that it might be our last evening together.

Overall, Day 4 was a wonderful experience. Through the competitions, we discovered how our different strengths could contribute to the team, while becoming more confident and resilient ourselves. Through the activities and farewell dinner, we also deepened the friendships we had formed with people from different schools and countries. It was a fitting celebration of everything we had experienced and achieved together at NISC. A big thank you to the Core Team for pulling this together - see next picture.
