About Us
Our Assessment NLC started in 2020 with the objectives of:
Developing teachers’ Assessment Literacy for meaningful teaching and learning
Collaborating and learning from each other as part of professional development
Transfer of learning back to schools to support the learning of our teachers in Assessment
Hello! We are a group of teachers who are interested in developing our knowledge in Formative Assessment. We get together to learn and share good assessment practices as well as familiarise ourselves with the various aspects of formative assessment with the common goal of adjusting our teaching practices to achieve meaningful student outcomes. We are inspired when any one of group members share useful tools and strategies which we can apply in our own classrooms and look forward to contributing to the fraternity in our own ways.
NLC Members
In 2020, we started out by developing a common understanding of Formative Assessment and shared effective practices in school. With blended learning coming into the picture after that, in 2021, the NLC looked into how we could assess students learning through blended lessons and the use of ICT tools. Aside from our own NLC members sharing, we were also fortunate to have Jiunn Huat from ETD who shared with us tools available for Assessment over the SLS platform.
NLC's Aspirations & Plans
In 2022, the NLC is looking at providing effective feedback. Members have indicated their interest in several areas including peer feedback, using levels of feedback, feedback in a differentiated classroom and encouraging self-regulation through feedback.
