DAY 3 REFLECTION
DAY 3 REFLECTION
UNIT 4 - SCAFFOLDING AND MANAGING PUPIL WORK
Conducted by : Mr. Suraj
Through this topic, I learned that scaffolding plays a very important role in helping pupils succeed in Project Based Learning (PBL). I realised that pupils need continuous guidance, especially when they are exploring new ideas, solving problems, and managing tasks independently. Simple strategies such as guiding questions, checklists, group discussions, and teacher feedback can make learning more organised and less overwhelming for pupils. This topic also helped me understand that effective scaffolding is not about giving pupils all the answers, but about supporting them step by step until they become more confident and independent learners. One important insight I gained is that different pupils require different levels of support. High achievers may need more challenging tasks, while low achievers may require clearer instructions and additional guidance. Overall, this unit strengthened my understanding of how proper scaffolding, differentiated support, and effective classroom management can create a more meaningful, inclusive, and engaging learning experience for all pupils.
UNIT 5 - Assessment and Reflection
Conducted by : Mr. Suraj
Through this topic, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of assessment and reflection in Project Based Learning (PBL). I learned that assessment is not only used to measure pupils’ final performance, but also to monitor their progress throughout the learning process. The topic helped me differentiate between formative and summative assessment more clearly. Formative assessment allows teachers to provide continuous feedback and support, while summative assessment evaluates pupils’ overall achievement at the end of the project. I also realised that well-designed assessments can encourage pupils to become more responsible, reflective, and actively involved in their own learning journey.
In addition, I explored how digital tools such as NotebookLM, Gemini Gem and Padlet can make assessment more interactive, efficient, and engaging for pupils. These tools also help teachers collect data and track learning outcomes more systematically. One of the most meaningful insights I gained from this unit is the value of constructive feedback. Effective feedback can motivate pupils, improve their confidence, and guide them towards better performance. I also understood that reflection is equally essential because it allows teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching strategies and make improvements for future lessons. Overall, this unit strengthened my awareness that meaningful assessment and reflection are fundamental elements in creating a successful and impactful PBL experience.
