For me, SAMR is about moving from basic digital support to true learning transformation.
At the Substitution level, I use Google Classroom as our central hub. Replacing paper handouts with digital resources gives pupils instant access to prep materials anywhere before stepping into class.
For Augmentation, I bring in functional improvements using Quizizz paper mode. Instead of passive paper worksheets, I create interactive, gamified quizzes that give pupils instant feedback and boost engagement.
At the Modification level, technology begins transforming the task. I introduce ChatGPT as an AI editing partner. Students feed in their writing drafts, receive targeted feedback, and actively refine their work, turning a solo writing task into an interactive dialogue.
Finally, at the Redefinition level, we create tasks that were previously impossible. Pupils combine these tools to produce an interactive digital poster with embedded audio, which they share online for peer review in class. *
By walking through SAMR, technology shifts my pupils from passive consumers into active, self-directed creators.
