Our Expert Mentors are the backbone of our program. This section offers context and insight into the mentee experience, so you are better prepared to answer questions and offer support.
Your mentees have different motivations for enrolling in the Virtual Mentorship Program. Understanding how and why they enrolled may be helpful as you build a relationship and individualize their support.
Mentees can:
Enroll as an individual. These educators may pay out-of-pocket to participate in this program and expand their practice of our model.
Enroll through a school or district partnership. MCP has a wide network of partner schools/districts, so your mentee may be participating in a district-wide professional development program required by their workplace.
Note: mentees from partnership distrcits may have access to specific supports or benefits that other mentees do not. Learn more about implementation support and stipends some mentees may receive.
Enroll through a scholarship opportunity. Through the support of our generous funders, MCP offers Classroom Innovation Scholarships in specific states and regions.
Mentees can make changes to their enrollment up until the day before the session start date, with caveats. This means that if you are paired already, you might be alerted to a change of status in your mentee's enrollment.
Mentees have access to a change/drop form linked in their enrollment confirmation email. Learn about our change/drop policy.
The session has not yet started.
If they request a hardship exception. In the change/drop form, mentees can report a hardship to change into a session or unenroll with no questions asked.
If it is their first time changing their enrollment. Mentees cannot change their enrollment more than once. If a mentee enrolled for the first time and has never changed sessions, they may be able to switch to a future session.
They are a scholarship recipient. Due to the nature of the scholarship investment, scholarships to the Mentorship Program are generally not transferable.
If they have already changed their enrollment or switched sessions in the past. Mentees can only change sessions once. If a mentee enrolled in a prior session (e.g., May 2024) and changed to a future session (e.g., October 2024), they cannot change sessions again.
If you are already paired and a mentee switches their enrollment, we cannot guarantee they can work with you as their mentor in a future session.
If your mentee asks further about changing sessions, you can always direct them to mentorship@modernclassrooms.org.
As soon as mentees are paired, they will have access to the course and can begin working and submitting before the official session start date.
Mentees will also be able to continue accessing the course following the end of the session date. The Extension policy will still apply, but mentees will continue working with the mentor after the session end date. If at any time you cannot support a mentee, before, during, or after a session, please email mentorship@modernclassrooms.org so the mentee can be re-paired.
You can share the forgot password link. Your mentee’s login email is the email listed in your mentor activity hub.
If your mentee continues to have issues logging in, please have them reach out to us at mentorship@modernclassrooms.org.
