October session begins 10/20 and runs through 2/2/26!
To remain an active Expert Mentor, you must:
Have recent experience implementing the Modern Classrooms model to uphold MCP’s guarantee to educators:
Be a current educator, instructional coach/leader, or administrator
Be an educator* who has recently exited the classroom** or is retired
Complete all steps of mentoring as outlined in this handbook and in Mentor Academy (viewable in Moodle) for each mentee
Treat all members of our community with respect
Complete mentor information or capacity surveys when prompted by MCP.
The above requirements ensure that mentors are best equipped to serve our mentees and that we’re best equipped to serve you. Implementers in the school setting will be prioritized when creating pairing requests. If a mentor no longer meets the requirements specified above, they will not receive new pairing requests.
*Educators can be in student-facing or teacher-facing roles
** "Recently exited” is defined as educators outside of the classroom or school setting who can demonstrate implementation experience or hold a current teaching license/endorsement. This may include educators who are on leave or are working in an instructional capacity outside of schools, such as consultants or curriculum developers.
If you have completed a Mentor Information or Capacity survey in the past six months, don't worry! You are considered an Active Mentor.
If you have not completed a survey in over six months or if you have not responded to any follow-up emails from MCP, please reach back out to us to ensure you continue to receive mentoring opportunities.
If you no longer wish to mentor or would like to take a break, please let us know.
For brand new mentors and Mentors-in-Training in Mentor Academy, you do not need to complete a Mentor Information or Capacity survey. For your first session, we will pair new mentors with 1-3 mentees to ease you into your first mentee caseload. Then, in future sessions, you will receive an email to complete the mentor survey.
If you no longer wish to mentor or would like to take a break, please let us know. We'll be sure to update your Mentor Status so you do not receive pairing requests.
Educators who retire from the profession are still eligible to mentor. Please see eligibility requirements.
However, if you have left the classroom to transition to a different industry, unfortunately, you are not eligible to mentor. We work with active and retired teachers who have classroom experience.
