October session begins 10/20 and runs through 2/2/26!
We celebrate and appreciate the hard work of our Expert Mentors!
All Expert Mentors are paid based on a tiered experience level: Beginner, Established, and Advanced.
Once you've successfully mentored 20+ mentees (through at least four submissions - "Mostly" - or completely through the program - "Complete"), you will receive an email notifying you of an experience level change. You can track your mentee count in your mentor activity hub
Check out our pay scale and rates below.
As a 1099 contractor, you are considered an independent contractor rather than an employee, meaning taxes related to your income, including any city business taxes, are your responsibility to manage. It’s not unusual for contractors to be subject to additional taxes, including city-specific business taxes, depending on where you live and work. However, certified tax professionals are well-equipped to provide support with this.
Because tax situations can vary widely based on individual circumstances, MCP recommends consulting a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or tax professional who can offer tailored advice specific to your situation. They can help clarify any obligations you may have to your location and provide guidance on how to address any concerns regarding taxes and specific requirements in your area for 1099 contractors.
Here is additional guidance on the 1099-NEC you will receive in late January/early February, and your tax responsibilities as a mentor.
The MCP team processes mentor pay at the end of each month. Activity entries submitted for the month are reviewed and approved, and mentor pay is processed and disbursed within the first two weeks of the month.
You'll receive payment through the method you selected when you onboarded into our payment platform. If you have any questions regarding your pay, please reach out to us at mentorship@modernclassrooms.org.
Not to worry! We understand mistakes happen. This guidance provides clarity on the process for handling duplicate or incorrect activity entries, ensuring our records remain accurate. Your cooperation in maintaining data integrity is greatly appreciated.
Here's a quick guide on what to do:
Scenario 1: Mentors discover an errored Activity Entry submission.
Submit an Activity Completion Error Form: Please complete and submit the error form to notify us of the incorrect entry. Use as much detail as possible, such as the approximate date, activity name and mentee full name.
Submit a correct entry (if needed): If the original entry was incorrect, such as the duplicate was intended for a different mentee, please submit a new, correct activity entry for the intended mentee.
Scenario 2: MCP discovers a duplicate entry or errored Activity Entry.
We will remove the duplicate: If our team identifies a duplicate activity entry, we will proceed with removing it from the system.
Mentor Action (only if applicable): No action is needed on your end unless the duplicate entry was actually intended for a different mentee. In that specific case, please submit a new activity entry for the correct mentee.
No Error Form Needed: Since we identified the error, there's no need for you to submit an additional error form.
Our goal is to keep our activity logs as clean and accurate as possible. By following these guidelines, we can ensure smooth operations and reliable data.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
