Celebration of World Book and Copyright Day 2023
Theme: EBSCO USER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: Hands on Training
The Department of Library, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Enathur, Kanchipuram, organized the First World Book and Copyright Day 2023 Celebration on 27th April 2023 from 11.30 to 12.30 pm at New CME Hall in our campus. As expected, 273 students and faculty members participated in this special occasion.
The program began with a prayer song and was followed by lamp lighting. The welcome address was given by Dr. C. Velmurugan, Chief Librarian, and he expressed his best wishes for Happy World Book and Copyright Day 2023 to all gathered. He welcomed all and mentioned that this is the first user orientation hands-on training program in the theme of “EBSCO USER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: Hands-on Training.” He also gave a brief note about World Book and Copyright Day and EBSCO.
The keynote address was given by Vice Principal and Professor Dr. R. Muthulakshmi, and she appreciated the organizing secretary and Chief Librarian and Library Coordinator taking such a good initiative for the World Book and Copyright Day 2023 Celebration, and she requested all the library users to make use of the EBSCO database effectively for their academic and research purposes.
Then a PowerPoint presentation was given by Dr. Periyasamy Pradeep R titled “EBSCO USER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: Hands-on Training.” He explained step by step via online about the EBSCO Database. Through this program, participants learned what EBSCO is, what the different kinds of search types, document types, and publication types are, what the collections are that are available, what the limits are, and many more features than they expected.
Mr. Bharath Kannan, EBSCO Business Manager explained the DynaMed database connected with health care subjects and various types of drug items, health-related measuring tools and calculators, etc.
At the end of the program, the formal vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Lalitha, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, and followed by refreshments.
Students and faculty members found the EBSCO program to be very helpful, and we are grateful to the management and Dean, sir, for providing the opportunity for the program to be a huge success.
