Celebration of National Librarian’s Day and 131st Birth Anniversary of
Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan
The Department of Library, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Enathur, Kanchipuram, organized the Second National Librarians’ Day Celebration on 24th August 2023 at the Reading Hall of the Central Library. As expected, more than 200 students and faculty members participated in this special occasion. The theme of the program was “Know Your Library: Facilities and Services.” During the time, a book exhibition was conducted, and a huge number of books were sold with maximum discount.
Report on National Librarian’s Day 2023
National Librarian’s Day 2023 was celebrated on Thursday, 24th August, from 10:30am to 12:00pmin Reading Hall at the Central Library. All committee members of the library faculties and students of the college attended the program.
The program started with a prayer song and the lighting of KUTHUVILAKKU by the chief guests. Welcome address delivered by Dr. C. Velmurugan, the chief librarian. He invited all the gatherings in the program and spoke about the importance of National Librarian Day. Followed by an inaugural address given by Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI. He has headed the program and spoken about the significance of the celebration of Librarian’s day. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anbhazhagan, Professor of General Medicine and coordinator of the Library Advisory Committee. He explained the importance of the Librarian’s Day celebration and how to use the library effectively.

The chief guest of the program distributed the Best Library User Awards and certificates to the best readers and visitors of the library. Finally, a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Fahima Hussaina, Library Committee Member and PG 3rd year student. She thanked all the gatherings of the program and thanked the supporting staff as well. The program ended with the National Anthem.
