One of the defining characteristics of M'KIS is the community within which it is situated. The vast majority, approximately 72%, of students, use non-motorized forms of transportation to get to school, and yes, this includes faculty. This not only promotes a more active lifestyle, but it also encourages communication. Due to the proximity of the school, our M'KIS moms and dads are very involved in school events and there is a wonderful culture of giving back through numerous charitable organizations.
There isn't a day that goes by where you wouldn't see one of the hard working parents roaming the halls, putting up posters or drumming up support for next big social gathering. As a teacher, this is no different. Nearly all teachers and administrators live within walking distance of the school. It's common practice for faculty to get together after school for a well-deserved social gathering or a hard-hitting workout. We have, in fact, got a resident drill sergeant who prepares a grueling 30-minute workout four times a week in the well-equipped school gym for anyone wanting to join, and it's free.
There are also regular opportunities to get together with colleagues at numerous community events taking place in Mont'Kiara and the surrounding neighborhoods. On the whole, Mont'Kiara is a place where you can easily assimilate into the culture. It's a soft landing into South East Asia but still affords you the opportunity to explore all that this diverse region has to offer. Relatively inexpensive, Mont'Kiara offers up a great quality of life, excellent living conditions, and a social network ready and waiting to accept you into their circle.
