SOCIAL SCIENCE

The social Studies curriculum is My World and we will be learning about ancient civilizations such as Rome, India, Egypt, China, Mesopotamia, and Greece. Similar to Science we can access interactive media and information through SAVVAS platform. Currently I am introducing students to timelines and chronology, elements of maps, and features of a civilization prior to beginning our first unit on Mesopotamia. Students just completed a presentation on the 7 continents and the countries within each continent. Next they will be researching popular landmarks according to their continent and how to locate them on their world map. There will be group projects, informational essay to research, and digital/interactive activities such as escape rooms assigned to them for each civilization. Finally at the end of the year we study Greece and there will be a building project and written paper assigned to students. More information will be coming out as we get closer to the end of the year.
