Science curriculum is Elevate Science and it is taught in four segments. Students are provided a textbook/workbook as well as access to digital and interactive activities through the SAVVAS application. Segment 1 begins with Living things: the Biosphere; Segment 2 starts off with thermal energy; segment 3 targets energy of the atmosphere and oceans; while Segment 4 tackles Reproduction and Growth . Elevate Science, uses real-world scenarios (phenomenon) to engage students in learning. They go on Quests (storylines) learning about the phenomena piece by piece. Students are then able to grasp a better understanding of the unit and present their explanations of the phenomenon. It is performance-based and hands-on learning. It is a very exciting time to be teaching science and I will keep parents informed throughout the school year with projects and activities students are working on. We also go on a field trip in May to Shady Creek. Information regarding this trip was sent home with your student.
