Man and Nature

Introduction
For this project, our class was enlisted to create a park that intersects with a parking lot, the Rail Trail, and the Mon River. It was limited to just ten feet outside and in between two PRT columns. The steep terrain proved a challenging complication layered on top of all of the additional site features. Nearby, the new business and economics school building is under construction, which adds another userbase to serve in addition to the users who would typically pass through the site or seek out a park in Morgantown.

Context
In this phase we took inventory of the site and worked those bullet points into multiple visual analyses of the site. We accounted for grading, drainage, existing construction and foliage, weather patterns, and the impact of the surrounding features on the senses.
Site Programming
As the final phase of this inventory of features and considerations, we considered the users and our intended uses of the site.
Figure 1. Displays some of the expected users (runenrs, cyclists, students, and the homeless) of the site and some accommodations they'll likely make use of. These include seating, shelter, and restroom facilities among other things.
Figure 2. Represents expected usage throughout the year from these groups.
Figure 3. Gives an example of how these uses might fit into the site.
Figure 4. Displays the estimated sizes of the programmed spaces.
