Summer 1
Today Skylark class listened to and compared two pieces of music from The Planets by Gustav Holst. They used a musical description word bank to describe how this music generated emotions, i.e. how it makes them feel.
Today we explored rhythms. We created patterns and used those patterns as rhythms. We used untuned percussion instruments and computers to hear the different rhythm patterns that we created. We used the software Chrome Music Lab to help us. We learnt to create a pattern using the shapes, and then press the play button to hear what our pattern sounds like. We then clicked on the right arrow, which allowed us to hear the rhythm pattern played with other instruments.
During this lesson, Skylark explored how music can be used in different ways to express emotions and to trigger their imaginations. They experimented with the pitch of notes to create their own piece of music using Chrome Music Lab.
