Year 2
Year 2
Together as a class, we came up with an Internet Safety Agreement.
I can explain how passwords can be used to protect information, accounts and devices.
I can explain and give examples of what is meant by ‘private’ and ‘keeping things private’.
I can describe and explain some rules for keeping personal information private (e.g. creating and protecting passwords).
LO: To recognise the uses and features of information technology
I can identify examples of computers
I can describe some uses of computers
I can identify that a computer is a part of IT
Children developed their understanding of what information technology (IT) is. They identified devices that are computers and considered how IT can help them both at school and beyond.
I can identify examples of IT
I can sort school IT by what it’s used for
I can identify that some IT can be used in more than one way
Children considered common uses of information technology in a context that they are familiar with. They then identified examples of IT and were able to explain the purpose of different examples of IT in the school setting.
We looked at different IT and placed them in the correct category. This was difficult at times, as we felt that some IT could be used for more than one purpose.
We learnt how to resize images on the chromebook. It was interesting to see how we could do the same task online.
When we did task using paper we used scissors and glue. Online we used the snipping tool.
LO: To identify information technology beyond school
● I can find examples of information technology
● I can sort IT by where it is found
● I can talk about uses of information technology
Children began to explore IT in environments beyond school, including home and familiar places such as shops. They spoke about the uses of IT in these environments and were able to explain that IT is used in many workplaces.
We had to sort out technology items that we would find inside and outside. For example, a speed camera would be found outside and a desktop computer would be found inside.
There were some items we were confused about as you can find them both inside and outside such as CCTV, a laptop (you can carry it around) and an interactive screen. So we placed these in the middle.
