Symphonic Band

Overview

The Symphonic Band is the primary performing group for the Minden Whippet Instrumental Music Program. The group meets during quarters 2-4 after the conclusion of the marching band season. The band performs core repertoire from the traditional and contemporary works written for Wind Band. Participation in Symphonic Band will enrich the students' musicianship as they develop proficiency in advanced instrumental music fundamentals, including: tone production, balance, blend, intonation, technique, and musical expression. The students will also develop a knowledge of composers and music history and literacy as related to selected repertoire. The Symphonic Band performs at concerts and festivals throughout the year, including District Music Contest in the Spring.
