We blend creative practice, mindfulness, and psychology insights in our approach.
We align our practices and explorations to the energies of the natural environment and the changing of the seasons.
We work with deep embodiment - doing, feeling and sensing the body during different explorations or experiments.
Our ethos is learning to doing, experimenting, trying and sharing.
The retreat starts even as you approach - we invite a mindful transition in and out of the space to maximise the time you have here.
We draw on an approach outlined by Ferrer et al., (2005) which is a way to link the tasks of transformative development to the changing energies of each season. This retreat explores the tasks of Winter. We will also run Spring and Summer retreats in 2022.
We have a variety of creative materials for you to play with - crayons, paints, pastels, paper of various sorts. Please do bring any of your own materials if you feel they will support your process.
We encourage finding materials in nature that inspire you and capture your experience.
In our Do Less, Be More (Rooted) experience we will help you to curate a representation of your journey in silence, that will support you in the transition from Winter to Spring.
If there are particular materials you like to work with, please bring them.
We suggest you bring a journal or notebook to capture your experiences.
Due to the current Covid situation, it is preferred if you can bring your own cushion, yoga mat and blanket (if you like to use these things for your practices). The venue does have these items, and the facilitators will also bring these - however please know these are things that have been shared and used by other people.
Warm clothes for outdoor activities (including boots or wet weather footwear).
Loose clothes for seated and moving meditative practice.
How long will we be in silence? We will allow time for the group to settle and plenty of time for questions on Friday. Friday evening after dinner will be when we commence silence until Sunday lunch time. During the creative practice session on Saturday, if you need help from a facilitator you can mindfully break silence with Tamara or Trudi.
What if I don't like being silent? On Friday night, Tamara and Trudi will share tips on how to get the most out of a silent retreat. If things are coming up for you and you need help, there is time in the schedule where you can arrange a brief chat with the facilitators.
