Beauty ChinaTea Store:
Beauty ChinaTea is a small local boba store located in the heart of Quincy’s downtown area. Their menu includes a wide selection of fresh fruit and milk teas. By excluding snacks and other food from their menu selection, they are able to specialize in drinks and take the time to develop the best-tasting boba in Massachusetts.
Although we could not speak with the owner of the store, the barista working at Beauty ChinaTea shared with us the story of his childhood and how the store came to be. Pictured on the left standing next to Emma, Oi is a recently graduated senior from North Quincy High School. He immigrated from Fujian, China, six years ago. His mother works at a nearby Chinese hot pot restaurant. Oi discovered over the past few years that the transition was far more difficult than anticipated. Although he sufficiently understood English, the education North Quincy High School had to offer challenged Oi both academically and socially. Nonetheless, he worked incredibly hard to improve his English to the best of his ability.
Oi also shared that he greatly respects his boss, Rui, who immigrated from Shanghai, China. "The art of tea making is no joke, and the skill takes time to master," Oi said. "His Oolong milk tea is sweet and silky, pleasing to the tongue."
Beauty ChinaTea first opened in 2021, so the COVID-19 pandemic made it especially difficult for the shop to establish itself. Oi hopes that as more Asian residents explore Quincy and what the area has to offer, Beauty ChinaTea will grow in popularity. He believes that more people need to support Asian businesses. “If anyone wants the best Oolong tea in Massachusetts, command them to march their way over to China Beauty Tea!”
