Wall of Pride

The Wall of Pride was started by Mrs. Saccardo who is a former teacher at MMS. She had a gray wall in the corner of the classroom that throughout the week students would "post" what they were proud of on a sticky note. Every Friday Mrs. Saccardo would read these notes to the class. We incorporated this idea to honor Mrs. Saccardo, who has done many things for our school.
Below are stories and other projects students have been working on and completed that they are proud to share with you, the readers of this newspaper. Although there are not many submissions in this issue, we are hoping to get more submissions from students of all grades. Below is a form, created for students to easily submit projects/talents they are proud of. The contents of this form will be added to the next publication of the newspaper, unless our team decides not to.
Introduction
My heart races, my hands are sore, all I can think of is getting away. My face feels wet, enriched with these tears. I try to open my eyes but all I will see are the people I will fight with. I always knew this day would come. They warned me, my fake family, and the government. Will this be the end? My name is Mileena Behrami and I am the next IUS.
Chapter 1:
The Beginning of the End
“Mama! I found a flower for you!” I hollered to mama happily and worry free.
“Wow, Mileena, do you know what flower that is?” Mama said.
“Isn’t it a cherry blossom?”
“That's right!” Mama congratulated me. She picked me up to go inside. I was 7 at the time. I knew almost nothing about it. About the fake family and the “special adventure” that I'm going on someday. I pretended my life was real. I wanted it to be real so badly so I could experience a regular life. Like any other 7 year old girl I played make believe during my whole childhood. But my make believe was different. I pretended that these people that I lived with were my family, or else the government would get involved. Mama and Papa were aerospace engineers for a secret company. Mama did more programming meanwhile Papa made the actual vehicles. I had a sister, her name was Tasha. She was 11 when I was 7. She was my real sister. We have the same biological mother. Papa raced into the door. THUD THUD THUD! His footsteps roared. Papa was angry at something. The once colorful coat rack turned dull along with their gloomy lights. The content of the house dimmed. The mood was depressing.
“Mileena, Tasha…” Papa took a pause. “Remember when I said we're going on that big adventure…” Papa paused and looked at Mama. Mama’s face turned into a concerned frown. Tasha looked back at Mama and began to breathe harder and faster.
“Yayyy! I’m so excited for the special adventure!” I cried out in happiness.
“Mileena, go to the car and stay in there.” Papa ordered me.
“But I haven't eaten yet.” I complained.
“We have snacks in the car!” That was the first time I heard Mama yell.
“Tasha go get your shoes on and let's go!” Papa seemed scared. Very scared. I heard Mama, Papa and Tasha all speaking in Russian. I wasn’t fluent in Russian but I always would hear Mama and Papa having a concerned face when they speak it.
“Mama, Where are we going?” I questioned,
“Home.” answered Mama.

Snowed In
❄️
By: Nat Cranmer
I went downstairs and opened the door to go to school. A lot of snow rolled down a giant snow wall that was blocking the doorway. My school was in another town, and I still had to get to school.
I went and got a shovel to start digging my way to school. The snow was soft and fluffy, but it took a lot of arm strength, and it took a long time to get to school. It took me half an hour just to get to my bus stop.
When I finally got to school, the bell rang as soon as I sat down in my seat. I sighed with relief, as we started the test.
I made it to class just in time.
Alone Together
JODIE
It was a frigid Friday night, the kind that wrapped the world in a blanket of deathly stillness. The air felt unnervingly cold, each breath a visible in the dimly lit room. The soft hum of music in the background only amplified the silence, turning it into an eerie, oppressive presence. My friend Jace was beside me, his face half-hidden in the shadows. We’d been friends since fifth grade, an encounter that had somehow survived the test of time and trials.
The darkness outside seemed to press against the windows, making the room feel like an isolated bubble of fragile light. I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched, as if unseen eyes were peering through the cracks and crevices. Each creak of the floorboards and rustle of the wind sent chills down my spine, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand...

Volume One-
Mr.Carter and Alexander Hamilton
By: SBT and Nat Cranmer
It was opening night, all this practice had finally paid off. Alexander Hamilton and Mr.Carter had locked eyes from their wings. They were ready to play the rolls of Mouse King and the nutcracker. But you’re probably wondering how we got here in the first place. Well, the year is 2025, and world renowned scientist Ms. Shockley has figured out how to resurrect the dead, but only if they were kept in jars. She’s revived King Tut, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, and of course, Alexander Hamilton. Once he was revived, he was asked to play as the Nutcracker in Millis Public Schools performance of the Nutcracker. The only open role was The Nutcracker, and so practice began.
Alexander walked down the halls of Millis High School to the auditorium. Once he found it, he poked his head through the main doors. “Alexander!” Ms.Copice yelled from the inside. “Thou was told to join hither.” He said. “Who thou?” Ms. Coppice looked confused. “Uh- Thou is Ms. Copice, I teach The Nutcracker. Welcome to soldiers and mice practice!” She said. Ms. Copice told Alexsander to sit down and pay attention to her and the kids. The dancers pranced around the stage, and other children did the dance on the floor in front of the stage. Alexsander noticed that the group on the stage did not have a Nutcracker, unlike on the floor. “That’s where you come in,” Ms. Copice said. “Let’s have you join the next time this group goes on the stage, study what the Nutcracker does in the dance.” Alexsanderobserved the nutcracker as the groups rotated around until his cast was on the stage. He got up from his chair and walked over to the light-up blank stage.
Alexsander walked into the fourth wing and heard the music turn on. Alexsander walked in with soldier-arms, which he saw the other nutcrackers before him with. He did the dance gracefully as the soldiers marched in, stiffly. Why are thee so stiff? He thought, as he elegantly danced once more. If anything, he looked more like the mice and the Mouse King, Mr. Carter. After they finished the dance, Ms. Copice approached Alexander. “Alexander, do you think you could match the soldiers more? You seem pretty loose when really your form should be stiffer.” She informed. “Balderdash!” He exclaimed, “This is dance, not boot camp!” He complained. “I know, Alexsander, but you really need to do this!” Alexsander sighed and walked back up the stage.
“From the top!” Ms. Copice yelled as she restarted the music. Alexsander walked in again, attempting to be a bit more stiff, but he just couldn’t control his elegance. He saw Mr.Carter dancing so gracefully and it just threw him off. Ms. Copice signaled the cast to restart several times, but every time he just couldn’t be stiff. Ms. Copice stopped the music and went up to Alexander. “I know it’s hard as a revived human to suddenly learn a new dance style you’ve never seen before, but you just have to try. Otherwise, we’ll have to remove you.” Alexsander squinted his eyes. “I am not throwing away my shot.”
Everyone walked back into their wings. Alexsander heard the music and sighed. He worked on his form, and then leapt from his wing. For once, he did the dance correctly! Mr. Carter secretly high-fived him when they were battling on stage.
After the amazing performance, Ms. Copice came up to Alexsander and patted him on the back.
