Exciting Field Trip to Bridgewater State University
Millis, Massachusetts — On November 22nd, a select group of students from grades 6-8 embarked on an exciting field trip to Bridgewater State University. These students were chosen based on teacher recommendations, recognizing their hard work, positive behavior, and dedication to their studies. This special trip provided a unique opportunity for students to explore a renowned college campus and learn about higher education in a real-world setting.
Bridgewater State University, located in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, has a long and rich history. Founded in 1840 as the Bridgewater Normal School, it is one of the oldest public universities in the state. Initially established to train teachers, it has grown into a comprehensive university offering a wide range of academic programs. The campus itself is home to several historic buildings and offers a beautiful environment for students to visit, including the iconic Boyden Hall, which has been an educational hub for decades.
On this field trip, students not only got to explore the academic and historic side of Bridgewater State but they also participated in activities designed to encourage kindness and responsibility. As part of the experience, students learned valuable lessons about building positive relationships, being respectful, and showing kindness both in school and in their daily lives.
The trip serves as an opportunity to show students that kindness matters, both in and outside of school. “At first, I was like, 'AHH, what's happening?' when I got called, but now I'm totally chill about it,” says Ivana Ajari, one of the students, A 6th grader. “I’m really excited to see what we’ll learn at Bridgewater.”
The field trip featured campus tours and interactive discussions. The goal was to inspire the students, show them the possibilities that lie ahead, and encourage them to take their education seriously, while also remembering the importance of kindness and respect in everything they do.
The students selected for this trip were looking forward to the chance to experience college life first-hand and learn from the examples set by the university community. In addition to the academic exploration, the students also had a chance to reflect on how they can bring kindness into their everyday actions, both in school and in their communities.
