Student Development & Wellness

Our mission is to promote and enhance the physical and emotional health and well-being of every member of our educational community, so that each individual can achieve his or her highest goals and aspirations and live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Students are required to successfully complete a PE and Wellness course each year, grades 9-12. Each course is a quarter long and will be coupled with a Health and Safety Course.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION & WELLNESS

Students in Physical Education will engage in regular, rigorous and enjoyable physical activities

to improve their overall health.

The Physical Education Department strives to promote total wellness — physical, mental, emotional and social — through a planned, sequential program of selected activities.  The goals of the Physical Education program are to develop knowledge and appreciation of the lifetime benefits of maintaining individual fitness, health-related physical fitness,  and skill-related physical fitness.  Students will have choices within each Physical Education & Wellness course that will better align to his or her longtime fitness goals.   Students are required to obtain a total of 1.0 credit in PE and Wellness in order to graduate.

Please note:  Students who are excused from Physical Education classes by a physician have the opportunity to make up the classes when released by a physician.  Students who cannot make up the classes by the end of the semester must retake the course.
