Children’s personal plans are designed to help all staff working with children and their families to think about and respond to the needs of the individual child, as per legislation for personal plans. Information in the personal plan should reflect that you know the child well, are able to meet their needs, respecting their wishes and choices. The plan aids the sharing of information and helps to support active partnerships between professionals and families.
Updated Feb 2025
The main change to the guidance is the additional page at the end ‘Wellbeing Levels and Chronologies’ on page 6. However, there are some other changes throughout, so please ensure you read the new guidance in full.
The old Appendix C (Medication Guidance, which is now outdated) has been replaced with a chronology template (the current Pan Lothian template, which should be used by our settings). All settings should ensure that they are following the most recent guidance from the Care Inspectorate regarding medication and Midlothian/own setting policies and procedures for medication.
Chronologies Training - We will be announcing the dates for chronologies training and booking information in next week’s update – please look out for these. We strongly encourage all settings to access this valuable training, being delivered by Ann-Marie Shearer, our Education Safeguarding Lead.
